Located about one and a half miles from the Atlantic Ocean, Margate is a small city in Broward County, Florida. Spread over an area of 9.09 square miles, Margate has a population of around 57,870 as of 2016.
The city is considered the gateway to Western Broward County. This explains the name of the city, Margate. It gets its first three letters from its founder and developer Jack Marqusee and the last four letters because of being the point of entry to Western Broward County.
This is a developed city with facilities like a waterpark, golf courses, and a tennis court. The Calypso Cove is a famous waterpark in the area.
You have many elementary and middle schools in Margate. However, you have to go to Coconut Creek or Coral Springs for your high school requirements. In addition, you have the charter schools and private schools as well.
The main development of the area occurred in the period 1970 to 1980 with the development of various real estate projects. The population of the city rose by 305% during this period.
