Loxahatchee

Located approximately 17 miles west of Palm Beach, Loxahatchee is the most rural area in the entire Palm Beach County, Florida. The village got its name from the Loxahatchee River that flows through the area. This is a protected area as it falls under the Indian Trails Improvement District and the Loxahatchee Groves Water Control District. In addition, the Lion Country Safari is located in Loxahatchee.

This village earned the right to become a municipality in 2006 when the State of Florida approved the incorporation of this village into the Town of Loxahatchee Groves. One of the principal reasons for incorporating the village into a municipality is to protect it from encroachments and to preserve the rural character of this quiet town.

You can find land being sold in lot sizes from 1 to 20 acres in this village. Famous for its loose land restrictions and exotic animal presence, Loxahatchee is a nice place to reside. You can literally live in the lap of Nature and enjoy the fauna and flora of village life.

There are elementary schools in this place. The students have to move to other nearby towns in the area for pursuing their higher education. There is only one high school in this village. This proves a major handicap to students intending to pursue higher education. In spite of not having major high schools in the village, Loxahatchee has produced like Robert Stempel, former Chairman and CEO of General Motors. One of its other notable residents is the baseball player Nick Rickles.

People having a inherent love to be in tune with Nature should love this place. The drive-in Lion Safari is the major attraction of this place. One of the smallest places in Palm Beach County, this village is seeing some development in recent times with prominent real estate owners moving in with their projects.
